This is Tyler and Tucker, two delightful Coton de Tulears doing what they do best -- cute tricks to please their people. Here they are balancing bits of broccoli on their noses.
This is a sweet and calm breed, but energetic enough to enjoy daily walks. A cousin of the Bichon, Maltese and Havanese, he is somewhat bigger and longer backed. His coat is long, soft and cottony to the touch. It is either white or white with biscuit patches.
Papillons love to watch their people so they can be ready for the next adventure. They make excellent obedience dogs.
Descended from ancient spaniel strains, Papillons are light-boned, light on their feet and light-hearted. Always white and some other color, with and long-fringed ears resembling a butterfly, they are eager to please and known as one of the most trainable small dogs.
They adapt well to city and apartment life but appreciate good walks as well.
Minpins have a unique movement called a hackney gait. Miniature pinschers are bright sparkly dogs requiring owners that appreciate their spunky personality. They do well in apartments and adjust easily to city life, but really enjoy frequent walks. They can be black and rust, chocolate and tan, red or stag red (red with black hairs).
This is the original English Toy Spaniel, much rarer than it's cousin, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. The ETS has a shorter neck and a different headpiece. The two breeds have almost identical colorings and the same delightful temperament.
This is a small, square-bodied dog with a silken, shiny, medium-length coat with heavy fringing on the ears. They come in four colors: Blenheim (red and white), Prince Charles (white with black and tan markings), King Charles (black and tan) and ruby (red).
Pembrokes are known as the Corgi without a tail. They are far more common than their Cardigan cousins, but both were developed to drive cattle, with self-confident temperaments to match.
Pugs originally came from China and are a cousin to the Pekingese, but were beloved by the Dutch and are called "Mops" in that country.
Pugs have been excellently described as “multum in parvo” which means “a lot of dog in a small place”. They are cobby and well muscled, from their short wrinkled faces to their tightly curled tails. They are popular and well loved because of their sweet disposition, and can come in fawn, silver fawn apricot fawn or black, with a well defined mask.
These dog coloring pages demonstrate what most of us already know -- that most small dogs are actually active little athletes.
