Some areas of the US have had a really mild winter, elsewhere in the world, not so much. I was working in Geneva, Switzerland earlier this month, where they were in the middle of a massive cold snap. Here's a video to show what I mean:

Geneva In a Massive Cold Snap

Tessier had a great 10 days of shows in Brooksville FL in January. We completed the championships on three dogs:

This is Ch. Tessier Wyntuk Spare Heir. "Harry" completed his championship at 11 months.

This is Ch. Tessier BCP Wyntuk By a Mile. "Roxie's" owners are super happy to have her finished. Now she can be a full time couch potato.

This is Ch. Tagalong Wyntuk By Dawn's Early Light. "Violet" has always been self confident, as you can see in her picture.

This just in; kennel partner Billie Pruitt took "Rosie" (see below) to the Lakeland FL shows, and now Ch. Tagalong Tessier Heirloom Rose is Tessier's 90th champion, and the 4th so far for 2012.

A New Book Project

TFH and Animal Planet have asked me to write a book about Pomeranians. This will be a companion guide to my Maxwell nominated "Dogs 101: Yorkshire Terriers", published last August. I am looking for stories about this wonderful small breed. If you have a Pom or know someone who does, let me know! Below is a Pom video I took at Westminster: Pomeranians at Westminster 2.12

Winning a Maxwell

I recently found out I had received not one but two Maxwell nominations this year. (Maxwells are the equivalent of dog writer and artists' Oscars.)

One was for the artwork I did for Group 1 trophies for the Clearwater Kennel Club, the other one was for my new book. Click here to find out more about the book: Yorkshire Terrier (Animal Planet Dogs 101).

I didn't win for the Yorkie book, but I did get a Maxwell for the 14 Group 1 portraits I did last year for the Clearwater Kennel Club. Check out one of them below. Whahoo!

How Much is that Doggie in the Window?

It may surprise you to learn the real costs of owning a dog. If you are considering a bargain basement purebred, it's important to know that the couple hundred more that you may pay from a breeder that does the correct genetic tests and socializes the puppies well will most likely save you money in the end.

A Vet Speaks Out About Designer Dogs

If designer dogs -- that is, deliberate matings of one breed to another -- were truly healthier than pure-breeds, veterinarians, of all people, would know for sure. But look at what this well respected vet says: A Vet Speaks Out About Designer Dogs

The Store

We are days away from opening our new store, with about 4 times more products. Check back often to see the latest.

But in the meantime, we are still open for business. Click on: The PawPrint Gallery.

And if you see a portrait or comic from elsewhere on the website that you would like on a card, let me know. I'll see what I can do.

And as always, enjoy!

Cards Are for More than Just Christmas!

Okay -- confession time. I love Facebook. It's fun to see the silly and great things my friends are up to. I have embraced the virtual world. But does that mean that "the screen" is all I want?

I know from experience that people still appreciate physical Christmas cards, but recently I was surprised to learn that my friends love getting a real card to celebrate small milestones, say thank you, or commiserate with someone who is down.

Paw Print Cards aren't just for Christmas. If you want to say thanks or give "doggie kisses" to help a friend feel better, sometimes only a real card will do. Start looking for the perfect one here:

The Paw Print Gallery.
