Cheeky Little Devils, Issue #019 -- the latest from the website plus stuff you won't see elsewhere! October 23, 2012 |
If you haven't subscribed to Cheeky Little Devils yet, you can do so here: Is it that time already? Well, it's very true that it flies when you’re having fun. The dogs perk up as the weather cools. They play racing games around the back yard and love dumpster diving into the monster toy box for their favorite squeekie. Halloween is right around the corner. Do you know the right and wrong way to deal with your pets during this holiday? Check out this excellent article for lots of tips: Tips for Keeping Your Pets Safe and Sane This Halloween. I've been traveling, including a couple of weeks in Australia (as you can see below). But our show season is starting soon with a trip to Puerto Rico for the big FCI (Federacion Cynotologique Internationale) show of the Americas, followed by the AKC Eukanuba show in Orlando in December, then there's the Florida Cluster in January... I'm sure I will be posting here with either brags on our wins or soloquies on the nature of losing -- and probably a good bit of both! With the Christmas season fast approaching we are filling every extra minute getting lots of PawPrint cards ready to go (see below for pictures and full details). This Cheeky is loaded with lots of new videos and pictures. Enjoy! Best, Sandy MORE Brand New 2012 Christmas CardsFor the last twelve years, I have made a Silky Terrier Christmas card every year. But this year it occured to me -- why not make cards for other small dogs as well? So with the same eye to quality and a spoonful of humor, I present our first two new breeds:CHIHUAHUA CHRISTMAS CARD
YORKSHIRE TERRIER CHRISTMAS CARD
Our Christmas Card Store is Open!Click here to browse our Christmas Card store. You might think that it's early to think about Christmas cards, but Halloween is a week away, then before you know it it'll be Thanksgiving and right after that it'll be "Geez, what am I doing for Chritmas cards?". The holidays creep up on us, and if you want to miss the lass minute panic it really isn't too early to start thinking about Christmas cards. You can check out some of our old favorites, enjoy this year's new cards, then make your decision. You Asked For It, You Got It -- More Pictures!Information is all very well and good, and yes, it can be useful in the end, but don't you think that the fun part of any website are all the photos and drawings? Well I do, so I have been updating the breed pages with more photographs -- lots of them. As always, all the photos are taken by me personally (very occasionally I'm given photos from others'). We never buy stock photos and of course we never rip off others' prints. So check these out -- and enjoy! ![]()
Revised Japanese Chin Page
The page is now loaded with Japanese Chin pictures. More Videos AvailableI recently visited a couple of shows in Melbourne Australia. I think you'll agree that they have great dogs Down Under!
LowchenLowchen are a rare and ancient breed; they were often depicted on a crusader's grave statue, curled up at his feet, check out:
Lowchen Video. Shih TzuEver wonder why Shih Tzus are one of the most popular small breeds? It has to be more than just that cute mug. Check out this young Shih Tzu, dancing about outside her show ring:
Shih Tzu Video Silky TerriersWant to see what Silkys look like in action? Check out this video from the Melbourne Royal Show in Australia:Melbourne Royal Video And you can check our the whole section on Silky Terriers here: Silky Terrier Page. MalteseMaltese are certainly an elegant creature, but there's alot more to them than that. Their white coat actually repels dirt; after a romp in the rain and mud they will look like they've sat all afternoon on milady's lap. (You, on the other hand...) Check out this video of them:Maltese Video. And to see our full section on Maltese check out our Maltese Page. Late Breaking Canine Health NewsThere's some new developments in the area of canine surgery that may have far reaching affects for humans, too. Check out: Canine Jaw Surgery News.Legislative UpdatesWhy should you, as a pet owner, care what happens with breeder legislation? It's very simple. Where did you get your last dog? If you didn't rescue and you are very lucky, you bought your dog from a quality breeder. These individuals, usually operating on a very limited basis, are the future of dog breeds. They are the ones who really care about genetics, who test for problems and then try to breed away from them. These are also the people who are slowly but surely being put out of business by the wave of draconian anti-breeder legislation sweeping this country. So yes, it's important to keep up with dog legislation as a pet owner. Your next dog is depending on you. Check out the latest here: One Law On Hold, Another Passes. The Store at About Small Dogs -- We Are Open!We have prints for sale for the first time, and lots and lots of cards. Our Christmas card page is open now too, if you can stand looking at holiday stuff this early! Window shop all you want, but click on: The Store. And if you see a portrait or comic from elsewhere on the website that you would like on a card, let me know. I'll see what I can do. And as always, enjoy! Best, Sandy Mesmer Top Ranked About Small Dog PagesThe following is some of the top ranked About Small Dogs pages.
