French Bulldogs

These are first and foremost a companion dog. They are small and muscular with a smooth coat, short face and signature bat ears. Well loved as calm and affectionate family members, they can brindle, fawn, white, and brindle and white.

This dog is a deep brindle.

Nottingham England lace-makers in the 19th century selectively bred the English Bulldog to be a lap pet. The Industrial Revolution displaced some lace-makers to France and of course they brought their "toy bulldogs" with them. There the pets proved so popular that the country called them their own.

This dog is trotting along purposely in his French village.

Frenchies are definitely indoor dogs but will alert the family to strangers as well. Due to their shortened face, they must have air-conditioning in the summer and cannot be shipped by plane.

This handsome brindle and white is from Australia.
